OASIS SPORTS COMPLEX

Oasis Sports Complex project in Cape Coral is currently in the design and permitting phase, with construction expected to start in May 2026. The $12 million project will be located at the Oasis Charter School campus and serve its 3,450+ students. 

Oasis Sports Complex – Project Details

  • Status: In design and permitting phase. The City Council has approved the base design.
  • Timeline:
    • Design and permit process: Estimated 6 months from initial deal approval in May 2025.
    • Construction start: Expected May 2026.
    • Completion: Anticipated for the 2027-2028 school year.
  • Location: On 15.2 acres of undeveloped property on the eastern side of the Oasis Charter School campus, west of Ida Baker High School.
  • Funding: The City is funding the initial build (estimated total cost around $12 million), which the Oasis Charter School system will pay back using local capital improvement (LCI) funds.
  • Amenities: Planned features include:
    • A multi-use turf sports field (for football, soccer, etc.)
    • A 20-foot-wide, eight-lane running track
    • Bleacher seating for home (1,160 seats) and visitor (580 seats) sections
    • Concession stand and restroom facilities
    • Locker rooms
    • Additional parking and ADA accommodations

Alternatives

The two alternatives discussed and approved for the Oasis Sports Complex involve different options for providing parking access to the facility: 

  1. Additional parking access point out to the northwest from the school: This alternative involves creating a new access point in the northwest direction from the current school campus area.
  2. Connecting to the Joe Coviello Park parking area: This alternative would link the sports complex to the existing parking area at Joe Coviello Park, connecting to Oasis Woods Boulevard. 

The City Council provided consensus to move forward with the base plan plus both of these parking alternatives.

Associated Costs

The Cape Coral City Council approved a total estimated cost of approximately $12.06 million ($12,055,066.23) for the Oasis Sports Complex. This figure includes the base design plus both parking alternatives and a contingency fund: 

  • Total Project Estimate (Base + Both Alternatives): $12,055,066.23.
  • Base Estimate: Early estimates for the facility alone (prior to adding the specific parking alternatives) were approximately $9 million. 

Specific Alternative Details

The two alternatives were integrated into the final consensus to ensure adequate access for both the school and the public: 

  • Northwest Access: Creating an additional parking access point leading northwest from the school.
  • Joe Coviello Park Connection: Linking the complex to the existing parking area at Joe Coviello Park via Oasis Woods Boulevard. 

The project is funded upfront by the City of Cape Coral, with the Oasis Charter School system expected to repay the debt using Local Capital Improvement (LCI) funds, which are scheduled to be fully available by 2028.
